PEEP

Parents Early Education Partnership or PEEP was set up in 1995 to work with parents and carers to enhance their children’s learning and development from birth, improving their life chances.

PEEP has developed a five-year programme offering developmentally appropriate support for parents and carers. It covers the period from their child’s birth to starting school.

PEEP Programme Aims

PEEP is open to all parents and carers who have children aged from birth to 5 years.

PEEP Programme Aims

1. To promote parents’ and carers’ awareness of children’s very early learning and development through making the most of everyday activities and interactions.

2. To support parents/carers in their relationships with their children, so that the children’s
self-esteem will be enhanced.

3. To affirm the crucial role of parents/carers as children’s first educators.

4. To support parents/carers in the development of their children’s literacy and numeracy.

Keeping You Informed

WE ARE A SMART NURSERY with the Famly app!

As part of our aim to become an eco-friendly business we also pride ourselves on keeping up to date with modern technology. It is important that all parents and carers are kept up to date with their child’s development within the nursery and as nursery practitioners it is part of our role to record your child’s development.

At Wee Gems we have upgraded our online system in January 2020 to the Famly software at all our branches to record all children’s development on a user friendly system for parents, carers and nursery staff. The system works using the Pre-Birth to Three Curriculum and Curriculum for Excellence. This allows the individual nurseries to add all children to the room they attend and also to their allocated key worker. This will be done all on your child’s first day. All we need is the child’s date of birth and the parents email address… simple! From this your child will be observed on a regular basis, each time an observation is added you will be sent a notification to alert you. This system also gives you the opportunity to feedback on your child’s observations.

The upgraded software allows all parents/carers to view all the daily activities and accounts etc. via a simple APP from their smart devices/phones. No more little pieces of paper with information, everything from activities to sleep, nappy or food patterns can be viewed at parent’s convenience.

In modern technology an email is quicker, eco-friendly and more cost effective. The emails can be sent to both parents and can also be accessed again using individual log in details. Text messages can be sent in emergency circumstances such as nursery closure, heating issues or anything else that may affect the day to day running of the nursery. We can also offer a paper copy if email is not suitable for individual families.

Our International Partners

Our founder/operations director Mahyar Mortazavi visited the Harvard childcare group in November 2011 and entered into a cooperation agreement with them.

This will enable both companies to compare operational procedures and share information in order to improve our level of care and teaching techniques.

Harvard nursery group have 11 branches in China; employing 500 staff; their operation is as large as some international schools in UK and each class room is equipped with a Smart board and they have dedicated sleep areas etc. There is a lot we can learn from them as well as a lot we can teach them.

The Chinese focus on hard work and class room style teaching from 2 years to 6 years old and do not employ or encourage free play within their education as we do in Scotland and on the other hand the children’s level of education and their educational stamina out weights our Scottish system; our director introduced the Curriculum for Excellence to the teacher’s at Harvard in order for them to understand and introduce free play and let children be children. In return he wants to introduce the team building techniques into Wee Gems.

Our children are now able to link via webcam with Chinese children on line and have some serious fun and this allows our children to become cosmopolitan children of the future. This will encourage the children to learn about different cultures and race while understanding different beliefs, values, practice and tradition. We will be working very closely with Harvard management team to bring out the best from both operations in order to improve our care techniques, values, team building and lots more.
