A deposit of £45 for a part time place or £70 for a full time place is required to secure a place within the nursery. This deposit is non refundable if the place is cancelled. The deposit must be paid in advance before any nursery place can be secured.
This sickness policy follows the guidelines set by the Scottish Care Commission and NHS.A 48 Hour exclusion period from the nursery is put in place if your child has any of the following:* Sickness* DiarrhoeaThe 48 hour exclusion period should come into effect from the last bought of sickness or diarrhoea to minimise the spread of infection. The nursery should be informed immediately if your child has had any of the above. If your child experiences any of the above while in nursery you will be asked to collect your child from our care.If your child experiences a high temperature while at nursery, the staff will try to cool your child with a cold compress, cool drink and take temperature readings at regular intervals. If we are unable to bring down your childs temperature down with these methods you will be contacted to collect your child from nursery.The nursery management follow guidelines from the NHS as to the exclusion period of other illnesses. Please see the NHS guidelines provided in the nursery reception.All medication brought into the building must be prescribed by a doctor, with the exception of Calpol which can be given unprescribed. Please let a member of staff know if your child has medication so this can be signed in and out of the nursery.The nursery can only administer 1x5ml spoon of Calpol per day for a maximum of two days. Any more than this may suggest there is something underlying. Teething remedies can be given as and when required.We keep an emergency supply of Calpol within the building for extremely high temperatures. This will only be given in this case and if your child does require nursery Calpol, then they must be picked up by an authorised person within the hour.If children are not attending nursery due to sickness or holiday, please contact the office to inform the staff of their absence.
Due to insurance purposes we can not have children in the building before 7.15am or after 6.15pm.Children must be dropped off at nursery no earlier than 7.15am and picked up no later than 6.15pm. All children must have left the building by 6.15pmChildren must be picked up no later then 1.15pm for AM sessions and dropped off no earlier than 1.15pm for PM sessions. This complies with maintaining staff to child ratios to meet Care Commission standards.If lateness persists without good reason, a letter will be issued along with a one off fine of £10.Absence and Holidays from nurseryPlease inform the nursery by telephone as soon as possible if your child is unable to attend nursery due to absence or holidays. You will be contacted if you fail to do so for the safety and well being of your child.All holidays from nursery must still be paid for in order to maintain your child's place within the nursery.
4 weeks notice must be given in writing before the nursery can accept any change of sessions or if your child is leaving the nursery. This must be addressed to the management.When the information has been received in writing, amendments of payment can be made.Under some circumstances the management be waiver the notice period required at their discretion.Child Protection in the nurseryAs a childcare setting it is expected that we fulfill our responsibilities in line with the principles and practice outlined in Edinburgh and Lothian's Child Protection Procedures and also in the company policies.If a staff member becomes aware that a child may be being abused, or that a person may be abusing a child they will report all cases to the Designated Member of Staff. The DMS will then contact the Social Work, Police or Family Protection Unit to report any cases immediatelyParents will only be informed if the nursery feels they should but should seek advice from the statutory agencies mentioned above before doing so. This is to prevent the child being put at greater risk or an investigation into the allegation being compromised.The interests of the children and their safety must remain as first priority.Please take time to read the Child Protection policy displayed on the wall in the front entrance area and in the policy folder.
